ETI is a leading alliance comprising trade unions, non-governmental organizations, and companies dedicated to promoting human rights within global supply chains. The organization focuses on convening crucial stakeholders, enhancing business transparency and accountability, and implementing practical solutions to end human rights abuses at work, thereby improving both workers’ lives and business operations.
The discussion began with an introduction to the organizations involved and a brief overview of relevant case studies. The main projects currently being undertaken by ETI were also outlined, involving petroleum enterprises and other environmental initiatives.
During the meeting, it was noted that ETI has faced challenges with on-the-ground projects in China, which have largely been halted. As a result, ETI now serves its Chinese members primarily through information sharing, which has proven to be a less effective approach in certain cases. There was significant interest in the case studies helping NGOs registration in China.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue exploring collaborative efforts to enhance human rights and transparency within supply chains, leveraging the diverse strengths of ETI’s membership.
